There’s no such thing as a perfect crime. It seems that William Minore’s mistake was trying his crime outside of Benzie County.
Minore allegedly robbed the same bank twice in Benzie County. He allegedly made spoof phone calls to 911 to draw their attention to another part of the county. It allegedly worked. Twice.
The Benzie County Sheriff’s Department couldn’t solve it.
Then, he allegedly tried one in Leelanau County. And he was in custody in a matter of weeks.
Now, Leelanau County is done pursuing charges so that federal prosecutors can file theirs. Leelanau County Prosecutor Joseph Hubbell planned to introduce evidence of the heists in Benzie County. If you’re wondering if he can do that, the answer is yes.
Minore faces 30 years in prison if he’s convicted.
Props to the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Department for the basic competence.
