Chery Hall used to be an employee of the Michigan Treasury Department. Now the Traverse City resident is charged with stealing more than $50,000 from taxpayers.
She faces up to 15 years in prison, restitution and a fine. Authorities say that they investigated the case for more than two years.
The 86th District Court lists the case as an open warrant.
Hall faced a prior charge in 2016 for retail fraud (theft from a store). That case was thrown out after Hall completed a diversionary program. Sounds like the diversionary program may not have worked.
