Cheryl Hall will spend at least the next 14 months in prison after she was sentenced for stealing from taxpayers. Hall used her authority with the Michigan Department of Treasury to steal taxpayer dollars. She pleaded guilty to embezzlement of $20,000 or more as well as a false tax return. The charges were brought in Grand Traverse County.
When a person receives a sentence of more than 12 months, they go to state prison. If it’s 12 months or less, they stay in county jail.
