Friday Follies

Cooley Law School is getting a Kalamazoo campus. So that’s good. I was losing sleep over the Cooley downsizing.

No updates on any Grand Traverse County plans to address jail issues that may or may not result in a disproportionate number of inmate suicides. Who was it that said you can judge a society by how it treats the most vulnerable among them? I think the inaction in the case of the jail suicide crisis is more than telling.

There are still so many stories to tell. Dennis Mikko makes a coloring book; Carol Stocking gets special treatment and then doesn’t retire like she promised she would; Bob Cooney raids an attorney’s office after the attorney wins a jury trial. Just all that. If only I dared talk about the stuff that I know about but don’t have public sources for.

There are a lot of people trying for the Traverse City Commission seat. Qualified candidates will make 8th Street even more complicated and look the other way when law enforcement refuses to investigate the Kelly Boyce homicide in good faith. This is the FBI’s website on Kelly Boyce. They direct tips straight to TCPD, so they’re probably not actively involved in the investigation, which is a shame, because TCPD isn’t getting the job done.

Enjoy the weekend. Hope the police don’t break your nose.
