Kipp Needham – Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office – Domestic Violence – 2010

Just another garden variety Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Deputy who thinks the laws only apply to mortals. In this case, a call led the Michigan State Police to Kipp Needham’s home for a domestic violence investigation, where an intoxicated Needham assaulted the officers. Apparently twelve years on the force wasn’t enough to teach Needham better behavior.

Needham eventually pleaded guilty to a reduced charge. The court sentenced Needham to six months in jail.

Sheriff Bensley said that he was “shocked” by Needham’s charges. He also said the charges were a one time occurrence. How many warning signs do we need before we admit GTSO has a culture problem from the top down?

  1. Once again, ACCOUNTABILITY issue cuz there isn’t one. They’ll just wait till they injure or kill someone. PITIFUL!

    1. First of all, this is my husband of 18 years. He’s never been abusive..not once. He didn’t drink till over 21 and never one traffic offence. He was prescribed a med (now as a RN) cause complete delusional thoughts…for a yeast body infection from his body armor for work. He saw things that weren’t there from med. Makes me so sad as a wife to watch him lose everything for something he couldn’t control. I’m a RN and previous Deputy and I’m strong willed. He is someone who didn’t deserve what the horrible Sheriff did! New Sheriff ruined a good mans and families life. This is where corrupt law enforcement lives!!! 😡

  2. The individuals that Needham assaulted are lucky he also assaulted a police office or else the victims would have gotten a visit from Scotty Fewins and then they would of had to leave the state before testifying. They could maybe have gone to Noelle Moeggenberg about witness tampering, but Moeggy would again do nothing but put on a show about how mad she is about it.

  3. Why do you have to bring this up after all these years??? You weren’t there or even involved, but yet you feel inspired to spew your hateful rhetoric about someone you don’t even know. I feel great pity for you. Get over it as everyone makes mistakes. I can guarantee you are not perfect either, you just didn’t get caught.

I remember encountering him years ago and he was always personable and professional. I feel great pity for you. Get over it as everyone makes mistakes. I can guarantee you are not perfect either, you just didn’t get caught.
