Michigan Campaign Sign Rules

In Michigan, there are rules for posting political signs.

From MDOT:

“Signs must be more than 30 feet from the edge of the roadway (white line) for highways that do not have barrier-type curbs”

To put into context, 30 feet is a first down. If the Detroit Lions don’t find the distance insurmountable in 4 downs, the sign isn’t far enough from the white line.

There are probably lots of good reasons for the rules — traffic obstructions, parking rights of way, etc.
