Paul Soma has officially retired from his post as Superintendent of the Traverse City Area Public Schools. He leaves a lingering controversy over a $700,000 payment for student counts that may have been in error. The controversy involves State Representative Larry Inman who is embroiled in his own bribery scandal. Inman arranged for a pork bailout for the district before it became public that he was under investigation for bribery.
The new Superintendent doesn’t start until August. But the fiscal year starts July 1.
