First in to my new email address is word that West Side Community Church is going to publicly discuss the findings of the fraud investigation this coming Sunday, January 26 at 12:15 p.m.
They’re calling it a “family meeting.” Sounds like the press isn’t invited. (Although if Matthew was a tax collector, surely members of the press are Jesus’ family, too.) They say that it might provide needed closure for some. Seems reasonable enough, given that people thought they were giving money to a religious purpose only to, allegedly, have it stolen. With the amount of money involved, allegedly approximately $500,000, I would want to know where the money went and what it was used for, if I gave money to the church.
The notice of the meeting implied that it’s the last time they’re going to be talking about it and they’re going to be “moving forward as a united church body” after the meeting. In other words, if you don’t shut up and agree with us after this, or you want to talk about it further, you’re not welcome.
Meeting this Sunday, January 26 at 12:15 p.m.
